Located beside the Squire clinic, the War base of the McDowell County Emergency Ambulance Authority is dispatched for various types of incidents. Some of these include simple illnesses, automobile accidents, fires, fatal illnesses, and transportation to and from doctor appointments.

There is a dispatcher on call 24 hours a day as well 24 hour manned bases. After emergency calls are called in to local bases, a squad is dispatched as soon as possible. Appointments such as transportation to doctor appointments must be called in to 436-3825 at least 24 hours in advance.
